Accessible Parking:
-Two accessible parking
spaces located behind the building
-Route from parking
lot to theater entrance is accessible; however, patrons should be cautious as they must share this route with vehicles
entering/exiting the lot
Drop-off/Pick-up Areas:
-There is a drop-off
area located directly in front of entrance with curb cut for accessibility to the sidewalk
Accessible Entrances and Circulation:
-Patrons of all abilities
can enter and circulate throughout the main level of the theater
-There are no elevators,
ramps, or lifts to the second level. The second level only has restroom facilities, which are also available on the main
level.
Concessions and Ticket Stand:
-Ticket stand is a
little high for patrons seated in a wheelchair (an individual could reach counter to pay, but may have difficulties seeing
and interracting with the employee)
-Concession stand counter
is at eye level if seated in a wheelchair and the self-serve coffee is too high to reach. However, the stand has an opening
that would enable the employee to deliver the food to a patron seated in a wheelchair.
Seating:
-There are two cut-out
areas to accommodate patrons in wheelchairs, and more spaces available upon request in the back of the theater.
-There is one aisle
seat with adjustable arm rests for easy transfers into and out of the seat.
-Accessible seating
is located throughout the theater; allowing clear lines of sight, companion seating, and easy access.
Assistive Listening and Audio Systems:
-Assistive listening
devices are available upon request, friendly staff member available to direct patron to the area within the theater for optimal
listening
-There are no
Descriptive Video Service, Audio Description, or captioning sevice available
Restrooms:
-There is a single-occupancy, accessible
restroom located on the main floor of the theater
-The sign for the restroom
is small, but it is on a highly used route and easy to find
-Entryway is accessible;
however, theater door blocks entrance by 3 inches, but can be closed/moved for easier access.
-There is open area
underneath the sink, allowing access to a seated patron; sink controls and soap dispenser can both be operated with a closed
fist
-Paper towel dispenser
was positioned too high for accessibility to patrons seated in a wheelchair
-Grab bars were positioned
on adjacent walls to allow easy transfer onto and off of toilet
Signs:
-Theater had printed,
high contrast signs at concession stand and restroom; however they were in small print and behind a glass surface that produced
glare.
-No Braille or raised
lettering on signs
Drinking Fountains:
-There was only one
drinking fountain located on the main level
-Fountain was at optimal
height for patrons seated in wheelchairs; however, a standing patron may have difficulty bending down to fountain level
-Fountain control was
operable with a closed fist
Emergency Features:
-Exits were clearly
labelled in the theater
-Fire alarms included
flashing lights, as well as audible signals
Other Features:
-The Hi-Pointe Theater
is a very small theater, with friendly and accomodating employees
-Any requests or questions
are welcomed by employees
